Dear North Arvada Families:
“Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see." (as quoted by Linus from It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Yes, it is the time of year when our students pick out costumes, eat buckets of candy, and engage in the celebrated tradition of Halloween. With this in mind, it is important to know that we work hard to create a safe and joy-filled learning environment for both our students and staff. We recognize that Halloween is a fun, celebrated tradition for many of our students.
It can be a fun and exciting day for students, and we would like to ensure that everyone can enjoy a fun and safe day.
Please remember, in addition to no clown costumes, our costume guidelines are as follows:
PRIDE dress code is expected. (As always, we reserve the right to request a change of clothing if your costume is deemed inappropriate.)
You must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see and hear! (no masks that cover the face)
Costumes cannot promote use of drugs, alcohol or weapons of any kind.
Trench coats and clown costumes are not allowed.
Costumes may not demean any race, religion, nationality, handicapped condition or gender.
No pretend “prop” weapons such as water pistols, knives or swords.
Shoes are required.
Costumes must be PG rated.
No excessive gore (blood and guts).
If you have any questions about our Halloween guidelines this year, please call us at (303) 982-0528. And remember, “A person should always choose a costume which is in direct contrast to her own personality” (It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown as stated by Lucy Van Pelt).
Sincerely,
